[2026-09-15] Learning Blender 🧊 What's Ucupaint? 💡 !Workshop

Duration: 4:17:40

This time we tried to learn how to use the Ucupaint plugin in Blender to do the texturing properly, instead of doing it manually in Krita, like we did last time. Because to be honest, I never want to touch Krita after what it did to us last time.

And looks like Ucupaint is an amazing solution for our model, it did exactly what I expected it to do. We were able to create a second UV map to sample regions of a wood PBR texture together with its normal maps and roughness textures and automatically bake it onto our custom made UV layout. We could also layer our modifications on top, like seams between individual wooden planks (we could even make them show up on the normal map), chips, splatters, and discoloration. And it allowed us to adjust and modify each layer individually, in a completely non-destructive process.

So yeah, looks like Ucupaint is an amazing tool that I will be definitely using in the future. I love it.
