On the second part of the stream, we checked out a nice little bonus, an expansion to the original Half-Life, called Blue Shift. Which provides another perspective to the events that were unfolding in Black Mesa when everything went South. We played as a security officer, Calhoun.
And yeah, it felt just like the normal Half-Life, with the same kind of puzzles and combat. Very cool experience. We even got to play in Xen a little bit, and managed to see Freeman a couple of times.
It was quite a big contrast seeing the original Half-Life graphics and controls right after playing Black Mesa. But to be honest, it was pretty good. After configuring the mouse sensitivity properly and getting used to the janky object push mechanics, it was a very enjoyable experience.
Maybe some time in the future we’ll check out the second Half-Life expansion, Opposing Force.
