[2026-09-30] Distracting myself while ᵣussians keep leveling my city to the ground 💡 !Workshop

Our saga to learn Blender continues. This time we started working on a new model, a traditional Ukrainian wooden well with a shadoof (a counter-weighted water-drawing mechanism, rather than a conventional rope-and-pulley system).

Well… we started with the, umm, the well model itself, constructing it out of irregular and well crooked wooden planks, figuring out the linked duplicates feature along the way so that modifications to one piece of the well are well propagated to its copies on the other sides of the well. And looks like that worked out quite well. Okay, sorry, I’ll stop.

And we started working on the first part of the shadoof, trying to not to mess up the model too much by boolean operations, and again trying to make it look like a naturally crooked piece of a tree. But we still need to model the rest pieces of the shadoof and maybe even try to animate it, so that’s going to be something for the next stream.
