This time we finally finished Dreamfall Chapters, the last game in The Longest Journey series. And… I wish I never played the 2nd and the 3rd game.
The original The Longest Journey was nice and cozy, and the ending was satisfying… The second game, even though it was interesting to play, basically shits on your hopes and dreams with its ending. And the third one, even though it tries to undo the damage the second game has done in the beginning, still shits on you, making you feel depressed, punishing your choices by killing everyone you like. It does fix many of the loose ends in the story left by the 2nd game. And the ending feels better. It feels resolved, unlike the abrupt ending of the 2nd game, which felt like a half-finished game. But at what cost? And it does introduce more loose ends and much more bullshit to the story.
I said that before, but looks like someone hurt Ragnar Tornquist somewhere in the middle of the development of the 2nd game and he tries his best to make everyone feel his pain. So yeah, I’m definitely not playing any more games touched by this dude ever again.
Still though, these games were definitely interesting to play. But I beg you, if you’re just starting to play The Longest Journey, just stop when you finish the 1st game.
