This time we finished Dreamfall: The Longest Journey during the Gaming Friday stream, and I have very mixed feelings about this one.
On one hand, the game was amazing, very interesting to play, very engaging story, a lot of familiar faces from the original game… On the other hand, the story feels so unfinished, so unresolved, half-done. The ending felt like a bad ending. But no, that’s the only ending we get in the game.

AAAAAAAH! What the hell is going on?? Everyone is dead! EVERYONE!
Zoë Castillo is dead, just managed to tell the story while in coma before passing away. Killed by her own mother (which was just hinted, but not really resolved in the storyline).
April Rayan is dead, even though The White of the Kin told Faith that Zoë saved April. How? By letting her die? And even before death, looks like April didn't manage to come to terms and was still angry at everything and without a real purpose. And how the hell did she live to her elderly age in the first game if she got stabbed in the chest by a spear and fell into alligator-swarmed swamp????
Kian Alvane managed to take rebel's side, but in a very weird way. It really felt incomplete. He just wandered a little bit through Marcuria, witnessed that's going on, killed a bunch of rebels by himself, said that he trusted Zoë (why?), and got convinced by April that Azadi is doing evil stuff here? Like really?? And still he didn't do much at all, got arrested and probably going to be executed as a traitor.
Na'ane betrayed April (and so easily??). But most likely she got captured and/or killed by Azadi anyway, along with the rest of the rebel crew, since she brought Kian into the rebel den and Kian had a tail on him in form of the whole Azadi army.
Benrime also got captured and most likely going to be executed even after Kian allegedly released her because of the deal with Na'ane.
Looks like Reza is not really dead, but Zoë says that it's not him? Like what again? Was that a fake Reza? And the real one is dead? Please explain.
Damien and Liv are also being chased by the WATIcorp and most likely going to be killed too. But who knows, this story didn't get resolved.
The White of the Kin is also most likely dead. Probably killed by Brian. Along with the rest of the Kin. She told April, that they've been hunted by something that wants to get rid of all the Kin to assert dominance. Was that "The Undreaming" that possessed Brian at the beginning of the game and this is why it said that "the Undreaming is unchained" at the end? Who knows because this is another part of the story that didn't get resolved.
And what the hell was that Collapse that everyone in Stark was talking about half of the game? We didn't get any answers about that either.
The big fat dude in the "garden" at the WATIcorp HQ is killed by the twins. Why? And if so, why not earlier, why not later? And if they were not controlled by him but by the evil CEO lady, then why the hell didn't they kill Zoë when they had so many chances? Another loose end in the story.
WATIcorp still get to release the Dreamer. Sad.
The little girl, Faith, had a very sad story. I almost ended the stream when we found out about her and her "home". That was so disheartening. And again, she's dead, even twice dead. But at least this part of the story got resolved. She was the Static, and now she's finally in peace.
The whole dream thing... The Guardian said that dreams make the fabric of the universe, they're very important, and they get passed from Stark to Arcadia, but the way back is interrupted by something (probably the Azadi tower contraption??), but it's none of his business, he just watches the science-magic balance between the two worlds. And in the end, apparently Azadi succeeded in whatever they were planning to do with the dreams. But again, what?
So yeah, the ending produced way more questions than it had answers (if it even had any). And I don’t really know how to feel about it. It just feels incomplete, scuffed… I’m definitely going to play Dreamfall Chapters, the third game in this universe, and hopefully it’ll give some more answers. But my hopes are low to be honest. And I don’t want to experience the same kind of ending once again. So maybe it would be a good idea to take a break from the Dreamfall series and play something else instead. We’ll see.
